Due to legislative changes, the Responsible Person (RP is the Employer or person with control) within a workplace is required to amongst other things;

Record their fire risk assessment in full not just the previously prescribed information;
Ensure that they do not appoint a person to assist them in making or reviewing a fire risk assessment unless the person is competent;
Record the identity of any person appointed by the RP to assist them – if making or reviewing a fire risk assessment under Article 9 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Record their fire safety arrangements;
Take reasonable steps to ascertain whether there are any other RPs that share or have duties in respect of the premises;

A Fire Risk Assessment is a legal requirement for all workplaces under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and requires the Responsible Person (business owner or manager) to assess the hazards and risks associated with your business in order to keep staff and customers safe. Failure to carry out a fire risk assessment might leave your business exposed to the risk of harm, loss or enforcement action by the fire authority. Your Fire Risk Assessment is a vital part of your business safety strategy and is a working document which helps you to identify hazards and risks and to take action to reduce the risk of harm or loss to your business. It needs to be carried out by a competent person with relevant experience and refreshed annually or after significant changes have taken place.
